What we collect

Email addresses (only if you subscribe)

If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address. This is processed by our email service provider (Beehiiv). We do not collect your name, address, or any other identifying information unless you provide it voluntarily.

Anonymous traffic analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics (Plausible or Cloudflare Web Analytics) to understand which articles are popular and how visitors find the site. These tools do not use cookies, do not track you across sites, and do not collect personally identifiable information. Aggregated data only: page views, referrer, country, device type.

Server logs

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) maintains short-term access logs as part of standard operations — typically including IP address, request URL, and timestamp. These logs are not used for marketing and are retained according to Cloudflare's policies.

What we do NOT collect

• No payment information (we do not process payments directly).
• No tracking cookies for advertising purposes.
• No social media tracking pixels.
• No data brokers, no data sales, ever.

Third parties we share data with

• Beehiiv — receives your email address if you subscribe. Their privacy policy: beehiiv.com/privacy.
• Cloudflare — hosts the site and handles DNS. Their privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
• Analytics provider (Plausible or Cloudflare Web Analytics) — anonymous aggregated data only.
• Affiliate networks (e.g. Eneba) — if you click an affiliate link, the affiliate network records that you came from GUArchives. They do not receive personal data about you from us.

Cookies

We do not set tracking cookies. Third-party services (Beehiiv embed, affiliate link redirects) may set their own cookies governed by their own policies. We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
• Deletion — ask us to delete your information. For email subscribers, you can also unsubscribe directly via any newsletter email.
• Withdraw consent — at any time.
• Complain — to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we've mishandled your data.

Children

GUArchives is intended for readers 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Data retention

Email subscribers' data is retained until you unsubscribe. Anonymous analytics data is retained per the analytics provider's standard retention policy (typically 12-24 months). Server logs are retained per Cloudflare's standard policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the newsletter (if you're subscribed) and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change.
